What is the one thing you always have within your reach? For most of us it’s our cell phone. While our phone can make us more productive it can also be a huge distraction and ruin relationships. Use your cell phone to make your day better.
There are plenty of apps that you can download to manage every part of your day. This list is all about tools you probably already have on your phone.
3 Cell Phone Tools You Already Have
Use the Timer
How many times a day do you say:
- Just a minute
- Five minute warning
- I’ll be with you in just a second
- We are leaving in 10 minutes
Now, how often do you really mean it?
Instead, make your timer your go to app. Whether it is getting your kids to brush their teeth for two minutes, cleaning up their toys in five minutes or making lunch in 10, your timer will help you stick to your plan.
Set Your Alarm
The alarm on your phone is different than the timer. Use your alarm for those reoccurring tasks. My husband and I both set up reminders on our phones to help us remember daily and weekly tasks. Here are a few examples:
- Sunday 6:00 PM take trash to the curb
- Monday-Friday 8:00 AM Bus Stop
- Monday-Friday 3:00 PM Bus Stop
- Monday-Friday 10:00 AM Stop and Pray
- Wednesday 4:00 Costco and Sprouts
- Saturday 1:00 PM Freelance Time Card
Your list would look different but it could include dry cleaning, grocery shopping, bills, etc. I also set alarms to remind me to set up appointments or schedule child care.
You probably always have your phone when you go shopping, creating shopping lists on your phone will save you time and money.
You can use the note function on your phone or find an app for list making. My husband and I use an app for grocery lists. We have a Sprout’s List, a Target List and a Costco List.
I can update the list on my phone and my husband can view it when he is out shopping. It’s a win-win!
