I am not a professional book reviewer. I am a mom, a sister, a daughter and a wife. A living, breathing woman that is experiencing real life on a daily basis and feeling more and more ‘out of amazing’ with each passing moment.
Just when I thought that I couldn’t feel anymore worn out.
Just when I thought that I couldn’t feel less capable.
Just when I thought that I couldn’t bare to lose another dream.
Just when I thought that I couldn’t untangle one more lie.
Just when I thought that I couldn’t sing one more song.
“Jesus lingered and poured out living water because this is what beautiful, amazing truth telling Jesus does. He lingers with the broken.”
Fresh Out of Amazing
Fresh Out of Amazing is that much needed conversation with a dear friend that you don’t ever want to end. It immediately triggers familiarity and gives the reader permission to let her guard down and engage.
The book is written in two parts: Hello, Fresh Out of Amazing Girl and The Invitation.
In the first part of the book, Stacey writes about different journeys that lead to becoming ‘fresh out of amazing’. Each story provides real and relevant obstacles that happen in everyday life. Thacker weaves in biblical accounts of women who went through the same obstacles, their journey and how God never failed to show up.
The second part of the book, The Invitation is a beautiful explanation of how God desires to work in and then, through our lives. Stacey shares a perfect story of how we must let go, take a step back and allow the amazing power of Jesus to work. “God is waiting for your store of strength to be utterly exhausted before he can deliver you.”
It is REAL. It is RAW. It is spiritually REFRESHING. The path of a ‘Fresh Out of Amazing’ girl may start a little different for each individual, but the road home is a beautiful journey covered by God’s patience, grace, love and MERCY.
The Extras
Fresh Out of Amazing is too good to be kept to myself. After reading the first few chapters, I found myself recommending the book. As I continued reading, I found myself in conversation upon conversation where I was sharing ideas and encouragement I had gained from the book.
Something I found exciting about the book, is the Study Guide included to use for small groups. Hello! How amazing would it be to gather together with a few close girlfriends, ‘savor’ a beautifully crafted coffee beverage, and grow in the hope and joy of the Lord. Sign me up!
There is also a ‘Mini Challenge’ included that is explained in the book.
